About TOPIK I Preparation
TOPIK I Preparation takes you from your first Korean letter to sitting TOPIK I, the beginner level of the Test of Proficiency in Korean. In twelve weeks you learn to read and write Hangul, build the grammar and vocabulary the exam tests, and practise listening and reading with real past papers.
Classes are small, so you speak in every lesson and your mistakes are corrected as you go. Each module ends with a short test, and the final week is given to full mock exams under timed conditions.
Most students join on their way to a language school or university in Korea. A TOPIK result is one of the first things a Korean school asks about, and Level 2 is the score that lets language students apply for part-time work — so we aim for Level 2 from day one.
Who it’s for
- Students planning to join a Korean language school on a D-4 visa
- Applicants to Korean universities who need a TOPIK score
- Complete beginners who want a structured start in Korean
- Self-taught learners who want to sit TOPIK I with proper preparation
Before you join
- No Korean needed — we start with the alphabet
- About an hour a day for homework and revision
- For online batches: a laptop or phone, headphones and a stable internet connection
Your Path to Studying in Korea
TOPIK I is the first step towards studying in Korea. Here’s what each level opens up for you.
Start at a Korean language school
Korea’s D-4 language training visa doesn’t ask for a TOPIK score, so you can begin studying Korean in Korea straight away.
Work part-time with TOPIK 2
Language students who reach TOPIK level 2 can apply to work part-time after six months of study in Korea.
Go on to a degree with TOPIK 3
Most Korean-taught degrees ask for TOPIK level 3 — the step from a language course to a D-2 student visa.

About the TOPIK I Exam
TOPIK I is the beginner level of the Test of Proficiency in Korean, run by Korea’s National Institute for International Education. It has two multiple-choice sections, listening and reading, and no writing.
| Part | Questions | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Listening | 30 questions | 40 minutes |
| Reading | 40 questions | 60 minutes |
How it’s scored
TOPIK I is marked out of 200: 100 for listening and 100 for reading. A total of 80 or more earns Level 1, and 140 or more earns Level 2. Results are valid for two years from the day they are announced.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know any Korean before joining?
No. The course starts with the Korean alphabet, Hangul, and assumes no Korean at all. If you already read Hangul, talk to us — you may be able to join a batch that has already started.
Is the TOPIK exam fee included in the course fee?
No. The exam fee — NPR 3,000 for TOPIK I — is paid directly to TOPIK Nepal when you register. We’ll tell you when registration opens and help you through the application.
Which TOPIK level should I aim for?
Aim for Level 2, which needs 140 out of 200. It shows a school you can manage everyday Korean, and language students with Level 2 can apply to work part-time after six months of study in Korea. If you plan to go straight to a Korean-taught degree, you’ll usually need Level 3, which is part of TOPIK II.
Is this the same as EPS-TOPIK?
No. EPS-TOPIK is a separate test for the Employment Permit System, for people going to Korea to work. This course prepares you for the regular TOPIK, which is used for study in Korea.
What happens if I miss a class?
Let your instructor know. In-person students can sit in on the same lesson in another batch that week when there’s space, and online classes are recorded so you can watch them later.
Can I pay the course fee in instalments?
Yes. You can pay half when you join and the rest by the end of the first month. Ask at our front desk for details.
Will this course help with my visa application?
A TOPIK result strengthens a language school or university application, and our counsellors help you prepare your documents once you’re ready to apply. The visa itself is decided by the Korean Embassy, so no course can guarantee one.
